Iceland is known for it's hotsprings. A lot of them are, however, either hard to reach, very busy, or very commercial. Even though Reykjadalur is quite busy as it is very popular, there is a lot of space for everyone to be able to bathe in piece, it is a river after all. It is well worth hiking out here through typical icelandic landscapes and chill a bit in this amazing place.
About the trail
The hike starts at the Reykjadalur parking in the village of Hveragerði. You'll hike upriver over a broad easy road. Before reaching the river you'll see sulferic water boiling left and right of the path. Once you reach the river there are simple changing facilities available. Either that or you use some towel magic to change into your bathing suit. Enjoy the free spa and take the same way back. It is not allowed to camp in the general area of the Reykjadalur river.
